Shibatora Episode 1, Part 1 of 3

HI GUYS! :D So...yep. This is it. :D I decided to make it in 3 parts instead of 2, so that your internet doesn't die or anything. :Db



We start off with a rainy scene. See that little blue figure in the back? That's our main character, Shibata Taketora.


2 of our main characters, Shibata Taketora and Fujiki Kojiro! Personally, I like Fujuki Naohito's hair. :] It suits his character. ^^


Hakuto! :D He's pretty awesome, actually. ^^


Taketora finds pleasure in his pain. :D



The first scene of Taketora's leading lady, Hosho Mizuki (The subs put it as 'Miduki'). There are many caps of her. You can obviously tell who my favorite character is. :D

Mizuki was stealing clothes from Kojiro's store, and runs away. This transvestite looking lady catches Taketora though, not Mizuki. As she gets on a moped/scooter with this other guy, Taketora's all, "D: It's not me!" and then we go to the credits!


Shibata Taketora - Koike Teppei (D: He's so adorable. x_x)


Hosho Miduki - Ohgo Suzuka (D: I love her way too much. Maybe even more than I love Hongo Kanata. o_o)


Hakuto - Tukaji Muga (I love Hakuto so much. XD)


Chiba Sakura - Maya Miki (MAYA MIKI! She was awesome in this drama. :D ...pft, she's awesome all the time.)


Shinjo Toru - Miyakawa Daisuke (I don't like him. D:)


Ayukawa Tamaki - Minami Akina (She was very cute. :] Why do I have a feeling that she might be a gravure model? D:)


Fujiki Kojiro - Fujiki Naohito

His three fangirls. XD The two in the back don't get much screen time, actually, 'cause it's all about...


Tamaki-chan! :]


This is...Shinjo's fanboy. Sort of. His name escapes my mind. :D ...Idk, I thought this cap was funny. :D


Shinjo. He's all nice to Taketora at first but then Taketora chuckles when his goukon invitation for Tamaki and co. is rejected and he becomes all, 'D: Why were you late?!' ...I don't like him. ._.


MAYA MIKI! ...I mean, Chiba Sakura! :D She's older than my mom by a year. D:


Heheh, the fangirls are flailing in the background. XD

Things happen, blah blah blah, and we skip to a short scene with Mizuki and the guy that she's currently living with.


:o! Are they from the guy she lives with? :o!


That's him, in the background. He reminds me of Golf. Or Mike. :D


This is Mizuki's dad. He looks like a nice man, but...:D





Taketora and Mizuki's dad discuss what they think has happened to Mizuki. I find the fact that they show it in manga-style LOL worthy. :D


ROFLMAO, I loved when she randomly popped up after Mizuki's dad left. XDDDDDDD

She tells him about what's going on, and that he has to go undercover and fingerprint a contract. Of course, after he fingerprints it, she tells him that undercover operations are illegal. :D And that if he gets caught, it's worse than getting fired. :D Heh.


Obviously he's all, 'D:!' about it, but then she does this and tells him to get into Helter Skelter and get Hosho Miduki and he's all, 'Hai!'


Hakuto's a pimp. :D


One of the guy's in Helter Skelter. Mizuki is living with him right now. He's kinda the leader of the prostitution ring. (Helter Skelter itself is actually a good gang, and the leader of Helter Skelter doesn't know about the prostituting going on behind his back. :o!)


And this is the leader of Helter Skelter! :D I think he's kinda...cute, in a rugged, bad-boy sort of way.


Taketora got into Helter Skelter, and this is when he first sees the girls. Recognize her? She played Mika's best friend in the Koizora movie, and now she's the evil chick in the drama. XD


Mizuki-chan!


The girl reveals Mizuki's scars.


Of course she's all, 'DX' about it.


I told you I have a lot of caps of her.


LOL. Mizuki asked him, 'What's a cop doing here?' but before she can actually finish, he's all, 'AHHHHHH!!!' about it. XD But of course she finishes afterward anyway. I love her. :]


Surprisingly, their chemistry together is pretty good, despite the age difference.

This scene was pretty funny, despite Taketora's, 'You shouldn't waste food. :|'

Hakuto brings in this treat in hopes of cheering Taketora up, but Kojiro being so smart, he tells him to try it first. So he does, and we find out that it was a trap. XD There's actually natto and kimchi in it, hahahah.





Taketora's offered some cake/pie at Mizuki's dad's house and at first he thinks it's poisoned, but when dad reassures him that it's not, he eats it and is all, 'Oishii!' or 'Umai!'. Idk.

Helter Skelter!








In this scene, Taketora goes to where Mizuki is living in hopes of bringing her back to her dad. She doesn't want to, of course. Hey, look, it's Golf-Mike again! :D


Mizuki pushes him and tells him to leave, buttttt!



:o! This is Taketora's 'power'. It's kinda lame, but basically, if someone is in mortal danger touches him, he sees the Shinigami's hands clawing at them.

ANDDD, this ends the first part. :D What will happen next? :o!

On a totally different, random note, I finished watching it today, and I cried. A lot more than I did during the Seigi ending and the 9th episode of Yasuko. I think this might've just jumped over Gakkou and Yasuko as my favorite drama this season. XO!

I8 really liked this drama. I even did a mini review of it at my journal. I adored Mizuki and so wanted her and Taketora to be together - amazing chemistry between those two. "Team Shibatora" was the best makeshift family ever. But, I have to say the ending of the series made me sad.

I went and I saw your review. I laughed a little at the part where you said it's not your favorite drama this season, because it's mine. Tied for first with 2 other dramas that you recced, Yasuko to Kenji and Gakkou Ja Oshierarenai. ^^

I absolutely love Ohgo Suzuka, she's my favorite Japanese actress, so I definitely had to check this out, if not for her, and I love it. I'm also one of the fans that would die of happiness seeing Mizuki and Taketora together, because their chemistry was just that good and I have to say, even if I'll be stoned, that it was better than Shida Mirai and Hongo Kanata's chemistry together.

Team Shibatora made me so sad!face. XD I don't know what happened at the end at all, but when Kojiro called Hakuto and he was talking on speakerphone to Mizuki, I was BAWLING. ...only, to a lesser extent. XD

Yeah, I cried a lot during the ending. XD Idk, I guess it was kinda realistic, though?

I'll probably post the 2nd part of the 1st episode tomorrow, if you wanna check it out. :3 :shrugs:

I really did like Shibatora a great deal. But, the ending made me very sad; that's the only reason it went down slightly on my list of favorites for the season. Its purely shallow reasons. But, once the subs come out and I understand it more, I'm sure Shibatora will go back up on the list.


I absolutely love Ohgo Suzuka


Ohgo Suzuka first impressed me in Robo and Sexy Voice. That girl could have chemistry with a rock. I am with you - I wanted <izuki and Taketora to get together really badly. I loved every single one of their scenes. (I agree with that: love Mirai and love Kanata, but there was not as much chemistry as I would have liked. Then again, they didn't really explore that relationship all that much.) Team Shibatora was so sad, but yet. . . what they did for Mizuki at the end, with the flag and all. :) It was a realistic end, I suppose. But, I'm still sad. I will be sure to check out your post on episode two.

Ahhhh, yeah, I get what you mean. If it was a happy ending for everyone, then it definitely would've been one of the best this season, wouldn't it? For me though, it's what boosted it up. XD I cried a lot more during the end of this than I did for the last few episodes of the other dramas that I watched this season. XD :weird:

Yeah, I thought she was a really good actress in that, which was what got me to start liking her. She had such great chemistry with Matsuyama Ken'Ichi despite the even bigger age difference, so I'm not surprised at all that her and Teppei are awesome together. (I absolutely love them both too. XD I guess I expected more to happen when I heard that they were in a drama together.)

Well, I think finding peace with certain things could be considered a happy-ish ending. For a comedy, it actually got sad and slightly straight-drama toward the end

What did you think about the high school students? I read that you didn't like how it was formulaic with Shibata saving a teen every week, but one of the things that I love about the drama is that people would initially think that it's an episodic drama, but with the way they tie in the problems from each episode and they had guest stars that didn't completely disappear after an episode (save for mainly the first episode) or two. So yeah, I loved seeing the students a lot. XD

She had great chemistry with Matsuyama Ken'Ichi, I agree. He is also someone who has tons of chemistry with all his female leads, especially if they are younger. :/ (I had also hoped for more to happen between them.) I have to make a video for this drama, that much I know.


BTW: love your icons for Gakko - those couples were my favorites.

Yeah. He's also someone that could have amazing chemistry with anyone and anything, even a rock. (Remember that episode where he decided to be with the 'evil' lady of the episode, or something? And how distressed Niko was? I can't remember all of what happened, but it was in one of the episodes.)

Sure! It's not every day that I find a fellow Ohgo Suzuka fan. People like Shida Mirai more, and while I also absolutely love Mirai, I think Suzuka is a better actress overall. And yeah, I'm shallow, but I think she's prettier. XD;;

I remember - Niko (or is it Nico?) was so jealous, though it was never outright stated. That man could have chemistry with a rock. (There are just certain actors in Japan that have chemistry with everyone - no matter how inapproate)


I plan of making the video, I just need to find a good song. I have this huge lists of videos I need to make, so I'm adding a video for this series. We can end up making the ultimate "Shibatora is cool - WATCH IT" post. Yes, that is my goal now.

About that, I love many of the under 21 actresses that Japan has to offer. Ohgo Suzuka, Shida Mirai, and others are very talented. But, I think that Shida Mirai is better in dramas, not comedies. Ohgo Suzuka seems to be really good at both. Overall, I would agree that Ohgo Suzuka is showing more range and promise, though both girls are very good; much better than most American girls their age. (And yes - OS is prettier. She really grew up over that year period between dramas. I didn't know it was her at first. SM, to me, has looked more or less the same since she was eleven, she's just cute.)
